Systeme.io Free vs Paid: Which Limits Matter Before You Upgrade?
If you are deciding whether to start with Systeme.io’s Free plan, begin with the limits you will actually use. A free account can be enough for a small test setup. A paid plan becomes relevant when you need capacity or a feature that the Free plan does not provide.
That is a different question from whether a paid plan will improve sales or reach. The public pricing page does not establish those outcomes, and this article does not claim them.
When the Free plan is enough
The Free plan is a fit for the narrow case where your setup stays within the recorded Free limits for contacts, sales funnels, courses, and custom domains. The pricing page also lists unlimited email sending and unlimited file storage for the plans shown.
| Plan | Monthly price shown | Systeme.io transaction fee | Contacts | Sales funnels | Courses | Custom domains |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0.00 | 0% | 2,000 | 3 | 1 | 1 |
| Startup | $17.00 | 0% | 5,000 | 10 | 5 | 3 |
These are capacity conditions, not a guarantee that the plan will support every workflow. Before choosing it, check the other rows in the current comparison table for the specific feature you need.
What changes the upgrade decision
The first paid plan is worth checking when one of these recorded limits becomes a real constraint:
- your contact list is approaching the Free-plan contact limit;
- you need more sales funnels than the Free plan allows;
- you need more courses than the Free plan allows;
- you need more custom domains than the Free plan allows; or
- another Free-plan limit in the current official comparison blocks a required workflow.
The contact limit is not merely a line in a feature table. Systeme.io’s help documentation describes a restriction process when an account exceeds the plan’s contact limit or when a downgrade leaves features above the new plan’s limits. It is therefore safer to check the limit before you need the extra capacity.
See what Systeme.io says about restricted accounts for the provider’s description of that process.
Do not treat the displayed zero transaction fee as the whole payment cost
The public pricing table displays no platform transaction fee for the plans shown and says that Stripe or PayPal can be used. That is the platform’s stated transaction-fee line. It is not a calculation of every amount that a payment processor, bank, tax authority, or payment method may charge.
This article therefore does not add a generic Stripe or PayPal rate to the plan prices. The relevant processor, account country, currency, payment method, refunds, and other terms would need their own verified inputs.
Monthly and annual billing are separate questions
The pricing page provides monthly and annual billing states and displays an annual-billing discount message. This article uses the monthly prices shown for Free and Startup. It does not convert an annual display into a monthly invoice or claim that an annual commitment is always preferable.
If you are considering annual billing, record the actual annual amount, the billing currency, tax treatment, and cancellation terms shown for your account before comparing it with a monthly plan.
What I did not test
I did not create a Systeme.io account or build a funnel or course draft. The statements here are based on the public pricing and help pages, not on first-hand product use. They do not establish setup time, ease of use, deliverability, support quality, sales results, or migration success.
The Free plan is a plausible starting point when its limits match your setup. The paid plan is a capacity decision when those limits do not. It is not a recommendation to upgrade just because a paid plan exists.
Method and sources
- Prices and selected plan limits come from the public Systeme.io pricing page, checked 2026-09-08.
- The restriction statement comes from Systeme.io’s help page on restricted accounts, checked 2026-09-08.
- The comparison table derives its displayed values from the verified adjacent-pricing dataset. No unverified processor fee, tax, annual invoice, or product-quality claim is inserted.
- This is a source-based comparison, not a hands-on review.
Pricing and limits can change. Confirm the current plan, billing state, limits, and payment terms before signing up.
